Counselling
Many people access counselling at different points in their lives, often when they are faced with a challenge, a crisis, or simply need to talk to someone  other than, family or friends. Counselling provides a safe place to identify your issues,  explore your concerns and fears. Your counsellor will not give you advice, we believe somewhere within each individual, you know, the directions in life you need to take.                                                                                Call: 0845 071 1369

Person Centred Art Therapy Skills
Our counsellors, work in Kentish town and can use person centred art therapy skills as a creative way of working. This is a way of using art and images for therapeutic purposes. It involves the use of visual and tactile media such as painting and sculpture as a means of self-expression. Our aim is to enable you  to discover a way to share emotions and feelings that cannot always be expressed verbally, which can lead to self-awareness and growth. Using person centred art therapy skills we focus on the creative process. Therefore you do not need to be a good artist or be able to draw. Clients who use this way of working feel it is possible to communicate and gain understanding through it. Our counsellors will not be directive, will not interpret or suggest the meaning of the image, you can discover the message of the image for yourself.
Our counsellors are not art therapists; all have either certificates or diploma level qualifications in person centred art therapy skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do next?
If you feel you would like an opportunity to talk and maybe arrange an initial session, please contact us.
If we are unable to answer the phone please leave a message and we will call you back within 48 hours. All calls will be confidential and we will check with you whether it is a convenient time to talk.

What is an Initial Session?
At this meeting you will have an opportunity to decide whether or not you feel comfortable talking to your counsellor, whether you can both work together, or if counselling is right for you at this time.
You will be under no obligation to pursue counselling. Deciding on a counsellor is one of the most important steps in your journey, so you may want to meet a few prospective counsellors to try them out before deciding which one to go with.

How will I know if it's right for me?
During your initial session you will get more of an idea about how counselling works and how you will feel talking to your  counsellor.

How long will I need to come for?
Counselling usually works best when sessions are weekly.
Clients can agree to attend for a short period of time, or for a longer open ended period, whichever the client feels best. After a few sessions we can  have a review.
If at any point you no longer feel counselling is working for you, simply inform your counsellor.

Is Counselling confidential ?
Counselling is confidential. The only circumstance where the counsellor is obliged to break confidentiality is if you have indicated that there is risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, and we are required by ethics to seek advice and guidance from other professionals. We would of course try to discuss this beforehand with you to obtain your consent.

Code of Ethics
All our counsellors have a Diploma in Counselling and work from either a person centred or integrative perspective. Our counsellors are BACP accredited and/ or  members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice.

What is counselling supervision?

Supervision can be seen as quality control and a way of ensuring that therapeutic standards are maintained. Like all professional counsellors, we have regular supervision and we may discuss aspects of our sessions with a supervisor, but would avoid disclosing information that would identify you.

Telephone Counselling
Telephone counselling can be the only form the counselling takes or can be in conjunction with face to face sessions. Our counsellors will call you at mutually pre arranged time, usually at the same time each week. If you would like to receive telephone counselling, please call 0845 071 1369 for further details.

What if am late for my session?
It is expected that the sessions begin at the agreed time and, unfortunately, cannot be
extended due to late arrival.

What if I want to cancel my session?
Missed sessions will be charged for unless 48 hours notice is given. In the event of a
missed session we are willing to negotiate another session that week if possible.

How much will it cost?
The fee for an initial session is £25.00
The fee for a counselling session ranges from £35-£45.00 per 50 minute session, depending on circumstances.
Reduced fees counselling session for students / low income are negotiable.
